Rev. John B. Pannkuk

Rev. John B. Pannkuk, 84, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 1992 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Rev. Pannkuk served as pastor of Trinity Lutheran church in Akron and St. Matthew's Lutheran church in Chatsworth, from 1941 to 1953.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at St. Mark's Lutheran church in Cedar Rapids. Pastor Gary Hess officiated. Burial was in Cedar Memorial Park cemetery, Garden of Tranquility, under direction of Turner Chapel East, Cedar Rapids.

Rev. Pannkuk, was born Nov. 2, 1907 at Titonka, Iowa. He graduated from the Titonka high school, and received his bachelor of science degree in 1931 from St. Paul Luther College in St. Paul, Minn. He graduated from Wartburg seminary in Dubuque in 1934. He married Ruth Janzig Aug. 22, 1934 at Bridgewater, S.D. He served congregations in Hopkinton- Earlville; Akron-Chatsworth; Garnavillo-Clayton, Iowa; Stuttgart, Arkansas; Malcom and Wallingford, Iowa. He retired in 1972 from full-time ministry to serve as visitation pastor in Decorah until Sept. 1, 1986, when he moved to Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Cedar Rapids; five sons, John and his wife, Kay of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Richard and his wife, Delphine of San Antonio, Texas; Robert and his wife, Kristie, of CedarmRapids; and James of Waterloo, Iowa; Karl and his wife, Lois, of Ames, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; and two brothers and three sisters.
