Melba E. O'Neill, age 81, of Waterloo, died Saturday, September 6, 2008 at her home of pancreatic cancer.

She was born on February 9, 1927 at home in rural Marshall County, Iowa near Laurel, the daughter of Pearl R. and Blanche (Richardson) Arnaman. She married Edward J. O’Neill in January 1945 in Waterloo. He preceded her in death on February 7, 1993.

Melba enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always the caregiver through out most of her adult life. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, embroidery and puzzles.

Survivors include her daughter, Elaine (Bob) Pullin of Waterloo; three grandsons, Bradley (Alesha) Whitmore of Blairsburg, Iowa, Brooks Whitmore of Waterloo and Bryce (Kerri) Whitmore of Marshalltown, Iowa; two great grandchildren, Josi Whitmore and Garrett Whitmore of Blairsburg, Iowa; four sisters, Juanita (Jim) Morkel of Waterloo, Dorothy Anderson of Waterloo, Lucille (Bob) Kline of Lyons, Colorado, and Phyllis (Bill) Fernau of Kansas City, Missouri; and a brother, Harold (Betty) Arnaman of Donnellson, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Alan E. O’Neill.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball in Waterloo, with burial in Geneseo Cemetery in rural Buckingham. Friends may call after 12:30 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
