WATERLOO - Donald W. Mathis, 76, of Oelwein, formerly of Waterloo, died Friday, April 9, at Grandview Health Care Center, Oelwein.

He was born June 8, 1933, near Bedford in Polk Township, Taylor County, son of Basil E. and Jessie Fae Ridnour Mathis. He married Maxiene L. Young on June 7, 1953, in Norwalk. She died Dec. 27, 2003. He later married Shirley I. Trimble on July 9, 2005, in Cedar Falls.

Mr. Mathis graduated from New Virginia High School, New Virginia, in 1953. He was a truck driver for many years and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Oelwein.

Survived by: his wife; two sons, John Douglas (Lisa) of Mount Auburn and Richard DeWayne of Waterloo; two grandchildren; and a brother, Francis (Twyla) of New Providence.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel, with burial in Waterloo Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with a 5:30 p.m. Masonic memorial service. Visitatoin an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.
