WATERLOO -- Dr. Nestor S. Pangilinan, 58, of 4340 Hoff Road, died Monday, Sept. 7, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

He was born May 10, 1940, in Manilla, Philippines, son of Felixberto and Consurio Sta.Cruz Pangilinan. He married Janet Jordan on Aug. 31, 1968, in Bridgeport, Conn.

Dr. Pangilinan graduated from the University of the East RMMC, Philippines, in 1965. He interned in the Philippines and served residency at Fairfield Hills Hospital, Newtown, Conn., and Trenton State Hospital, Trenton, N.J. He was a psychiatrist at Iowa Mental Health Institute, Independence, from 1972 to 1979; had been associated with Black Hawk/Grundy Mental Health Center since 1977; and has been in private practice in Waterloo from 1979 until the present.

Survived by: his wife; two sons, Todd of Chicago and Scott of Iowa City; two daughters, Faith of Baltimore and Amy of Iowa City; his parents of Manilla; four brothers, Roberto, Alfredo, Jaime and Hermie, all of Manilla; and three sisters, Alice, Betty and Nora, all of Manilla.

Preceded in death by: paternal grandparents, Silvestra and Catalino Pangilinan; and maternal grandparents, Margarita and Leon Sta.Cruz.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service/West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service.

Memorials: may be directed to charity of donor's choice or Sacred Heart School.
