GRAVES, WHITE, SNODGRASS, KAUTEN

WATERLOO - Edward F. "Whitey" Graves, 88, of Waterloo, died at home Saturday, March 27, of natural causes.

He was born April 12, 1921, in Anamosa, son of Earnest and Carmen White Graves. He married Mildred Snodgrass on Aug. 11, 1945, at First Baptist Church, Rochester, Minn. She died Dec. 19, 2005.

Mr. Graves owned and operated Graves Floor Sanding and Graves Paint Store. He was a U.S. Army and U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of First Baptist Church and Becker Chapman American Legion Post 138.

Survived by: a son, Jim (Grace) of Waterloo; a daughter, Margaret (Philip) Kauten of Waterloo; nine grandchildren, Linda Graves, Kevin Graves, Barb (Paul Jr.) Beets, John "Edd" (Gloria) Kauten, Wynette "Winnie" Kautin, Chris (April) Graves, Lori (Matt) Lange, Julie (Adam) Hughes and Ann Graves; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kenny of Independence.

Preceded in death by: a son, Gerald; and eight brothers and sisters.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Locke Funeral Home, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138 and VFW Post 1623. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and for an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials: may be directed to First Baptist Church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
