WATERLOO - Ruby M. Witt, 98, formerly of Waterloo, died Monday, March 22, at Hubbard Care Center, Hubbard.

She was born Dec. 26, 1911, in Douglas Township, daughter of Frank and Minnie Reed Carpenter. She married the Rev. Fred R. Witt on March 3, 1946, in Horton. He died April 27, 1992.

Mrs. Witt attended Northwestern College, Minneapolis, for a year. She taught piano and was a member of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church.

Survived by: a son, Lavern R. (Barbara) of Altoona; two daughters, Shirley (Jim) Axtell of Iowa Falls and Ardell (Gary) French of Bloomfield; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Lucille Carpenter of Clarksville.

Preceded in death by: two brothers, Claude and Ralph Carpenter; and a sister, Fern Bakker.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo, with burial in Horton Cemetery, Horton. Public visitation from noon until services Wednesday at the funeral home.
