WATERLOO - Dorothy M. Hoppenworth, 88, of Waterloo, died at home Sunday, March 21.

She was born May 23, 1921, in Douglas Township, Bremer County, daughter of Loyd E. and Sarah Ruth Beaumont Brown. She married Arthur W. Hoppenworth on March 22, 1945, in Waterloo. He died July 2, 1978.

Mrs. Hoppenworth was a homemaker and a member of Hammond Avenue Brethren Church for many years.

Survived by: a daughter, JoAnn Smith of Waterloo; two sons, Steven (Patty) and Neil K. (Georgia), both of Waterloo; eight grandchildren, John (Carla) Brinker, Gerald (Linda) Brinker, Kurt Brinker, Nicole, Emily and Drew Hoppenworth and Stephanie and Benjamin Hoppenworth; three great-grandchildren, Myah, Owen and Tyler Brinker; and a sister, Jeanette Curry of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: her parents; a son, John Arthur on Oct. 31, 1963; and a brother, Cecil Brown.

Memorial Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Hammond Avenue Brethren Church. Private family burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
