WATERLOO - Paul William Goodwinson, 86, of Waterloo, died Friday, March 19, at Rosewood Estates.

He was born April 21, 1923, in Spring Valley, Minn., son of Carl and Mildred McClary Goodwinson. He married Pauline Wagner on Aug. 2, 1961, in Minnesota.

Paul attended country school in Fillmore County, Minn. He was a merchant marine and sailed around the world twice. He was employed as a machinist with John Deere for 37 years, retiring in 1983.

Survived by: his wife; a son, Donald Stephens of Montezuma; a daughter, Sharon (Roger) Baumann of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Kimberly (Shane) Brown of Waterloo and Scott (Marcy) Baumann of Jesup; two great-grandsons, Nicholas and Jeremy Baumann; and two sisters, Frances Losey and Shirley (Gene) Lewison, both of Adams, Minn.

Preceded in death by: a granddaughter, Scarlett Stephens.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Edward Catholic Church. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
