Comrades Confirm the Death of Frank Parrish at Argonne

Confirmation of the death of Frank Parrish, Co. B, One Hundred Sixty-eighth infantry, Rainbow division, was given by his comrades here yesterday. A brother, Erwin Parrish, was with the Co. B boys who paraded thru the streets of Waterloo yesterday afternoon.

During the active fighting Erwin was connected with the Thirty-sixth infantry but upon meeting with the Rainbow division in the army of occupation this spring he was transferred to that unit in the hope of being with his brother there. It was at that time he learned of the death of his brother. Erwin Parrish was transferred to the Rainbows in April, 1919, at Niederzissen, Germany.

Frank Parrish was instantly killed during an engagement in the Argonne sector on the morning of Oct. 14, the boys stated. He, with a number of comrades, had laid down in a shell hole when a high explosive shell came over, making a direct hit. Frank and three companions were killed and 35 injured, all men of B company.

At the time of Parrish's death, messages sent here from the war department to the lad's mother were undelivered as she could not be located. Yesterday it was learned that his parents had moved to Davenport, where they now reside.
