EVANSDALE -- Zane I. Hanlin, 64, of Evansdale, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

He was born Feb. 24, 1936, in Waterloo, son of Alva O.F. and Velma Marie Hardee Hanlin. He married Lela Carter on June 5, 1953, in Waterloo.

Mr. Hanlin was employed by John Deere until his retirement.

Survived by: his wife; a son, Robin Eugene of Evansdale; two daughters, Penny Lee Hanlin and Wanda Jo Tucker, both of Waterloo; three grandchildren; and a sister, Lorene Whipple of El Paso, Texas.

Preceded in death by: an infant daughter, Kathie Marie Hanlin; and a brother, Donald Eugene.

Services: 2 p.m. Thursday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and for an hour before services Thursday at the funeral home.
