WATERLOO -- Omar A. Lett, 80, of Waterloo, died Sunday, May 2, 1999, at ManorCare Health Services from complications of Parkinson's disease.

He was born March 28, 1919, in Poplar Grove, Ill., son of Charles A. and Jennie Olson Lett. He married Grace "Helen" Kingman on Sept. 28, 1946, in Cedar Falls.

Mr. Lett was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 19th General Hospital in Europe. He attended Augustana College, Rock Island, Ill., and completed his graduate work at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, and the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. He taught at Waterloo junior high and high schools for much of his 28-year career, retiring in 1976.

Survived by: his wife; two sons, Steve H. of Mount Laurel, N.J., and Charles A. of Nixa, Mo.; three daughters, Jennifer Ann Lett of Haddon Heights, N.J., Cynthia M. Tanner of Fenton, Mo., and Marianne Grace Clark of Parkersburg; and 11 grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: an infant son, Allan; and an infant brother.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church. Friends may call for an hour before services at the church. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623. The casket will be closed. Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball is in charge of arrangements.
