WATERLOO — Harold P. Schaefer, 65, of Waterloo, died Monday, March 15, at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born May 18, 1944, in Waterloo, son of George and Bertha Stohr Schaefer.

He was employed in the recycling center at Harmony House, and later with Comprehensive Systems, Cedar Falls, until his retirement.

Survived by: four brothers, James (Beverly) of Hudson, John (Susan) of La Porte City, and Carl (Janet) and George (Donna), both of Waterloo; a sister, Barbara Weber of Hudson; a brother-in-law, Bernard Valenta of Delphi, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Sue Schaefer of Hudson; and 33 nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: his parents; a brother, Robert; a sister, Geraldine Valenta; and a brother-in-law, James Weber.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Eagle Center, with burial in the church cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services Friday at the church.
