LA PORTE CITY — Thomas H. Howard, 67, of Adel, formerly of La Porte City, died Sunday, March 7, at Methodist Hospital, Des Moines.

He was born Feb. 8, 1943, in Waterloo, son of Merville Sr. and Mary Stafford Howard. He married Nanci Wolfe on July 20, 1996, in Adel.

Mr. Howard attended La Porte schools. He worked for the city of La Porte for many years, retiring in 2008 from United Brick and Tile Co., Adel.

Survived by: his wife; a daughter, Karen Chace of Phoenix; a son, Timothy of Springfield, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Wendy (Howard) Ross and Tina Wolfe, both of Des Moines; a stepson, Heath (Barb) Wolfe of Des Moines; two grandchildren, Margaret (Oscar) McCartney of Little Rock, Ark., and Cooper Ross of Des Moines; a great-granddaughter, Nadelyn of Little Rock; three sisters, Sharon (Marvin) Haack of Waterloo, Mary Lou (Jim) Bumgarner of New Lisbon, Wis., and Susan (John) Disrud of Waverly; and three brothers, Merville Jr. (Pat) and LeeRoy (Catrina), both of Waterloo, and Michael (Char) of Clinton.

Preceded in death by: his parents.

Memorial services: 1 p.m. Friday at Adel Methodist Church, Adel.
