WATERLOO - Gladys L. Christensen, 86, of Waterloo, died Saturday, March 6, at Covenant Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 13, 1923, in Waterloo, daughter of Roy and Mary Bean Moser. She married Vernon B. Christensen on June 26, 1946, in Waterloo. He died Aug. 16, 1993.

Mrs. Christensen graduated from Waterloo East High School, and had worked for the Waterloo Community Schools as a cook at several facilities, including Central High School. She was a member of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church and participated in many of the church ministries, including serving as a deaconess and working with the sewing circle and other groups.

Survived by: a daughter, Rebecca J. (Vernon) Myles of Vidalia, Ga.; two grandchildren, Joshua Myles of Calumet, Mich., and Carrie Myles of Lynchburg, Va.; and a sister, Marlene (Richard) Meyer of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: her parents; and a sister, Lois Owens.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel, with burial in Orange Township Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today and for an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials: may be directed to Walnut Ridge Baptist Church Missions Fund, 1307 W. Ridgeway Ave., Waterloo 50701.

Gladys loved working in her yard. She was a dog lover, raising Boston terriers for several years.
