WATERLOO - Barbara J. Cooper, 73, of Waterloo, died Monday, Feb. 22, at Allen Hospital.

She was born May 22, 1936, in Waterloo, daughter of Peter and Geraldine Johnston Hemmer. She married John L. "Jack" Cooper Jr. on April 21, 1956.

Survived by: her husband; a daughter, Kim (Bill) DeHaan of Gilbert, Ariz.; four sons, Mike (Becky) of Des Moines, and Steve, Robert and Randy, all of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Engel of Austin, Minn., and Joy Schmitt of Garden Grove, Calif.; and a brother, Don Hemmer of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Ted Hemmer.

Memorial Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, preceded by an hour of visitation.
