WATERLOO - William Tanner, 68, of Dallas, Texas, formerly of Waterloo, died Jan. 31.

He was born Aug. 25, 1941, in Chicago, son of Clyde E. and Ethel V. Gore Tanner. He married Mary Ernster on July 2, 1966, in Waterloo.

Mr. Tanner graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1959. After serving in the U. S. Army, he received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. He was a probation officer in Waterloo, then served as director of the Adult Education Center at Marshalltown Community College. After several years in Phoenix in the electronics industry, he moved to Dallas in 1980 to work for Texas Instruments and spent many years in the semiconductor business. Most recently he worked as a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker.

Survived by: his wife; two daughters, Katy (Paul) Fowler of Plano, Texas, and Sara (Matt) Munoz of McKinney, Texas; a son, Mike (Donna) of Fairview; seven grandchildren, Sydney and Austin Fowler, Matthew, Jacob and William Tobias "Toby" Munoz, and Noah and Sophia (Pia) Tanner; and a sister, Joyce Taylor of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by: his parents.

Services: were Feb. 4 at All Saints Catholic Church, Dallas. Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, McKinney, was in charge of arrangements.

Bill had many fond memories of growing up in Waterloo and had maintained contact with many of his Iowa friends. He will be greatly missed by all.
