WATERLOO — Sallie F. Houston Johnson, 78, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Feb. 7, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

She was born Jan. 16, 1932, in Sedalia, Mo., daughter of Herman Sr. and Alberta Ferguson President. She married Edward Johnson on Feb. 9, 1968, in Waterloo.

Mrs. Johnson had been employed with the Waterloo schools as a clerk. She was a member of Ad-Loy-Ho Club and Grant School PTA.

Survived by: her husband; two daughters, Anita Clark and Marie Dantzler, both of Waterloo; three sons, Roderick Houston of Waterloo, Raymond Johnson of Los Angeles and Antonio Johnson of Mason City; her mother of Sedalia; four sisters, Gwendolyn (Joseph) Thompson of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Lilah (Raymond) Taylor and Kay (George) Finley, both of Sedalia, and Carol Sue Stimage of Pontiac, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: her father; a daughter, Linda Houston Harrington; a son, Philip Houston; two sisters, Barbara Jean Piper and Patti Jo President; and an uncle, Oma Lee Ferguson.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Payne Memorial AME Church, with burial in Garden of Memories. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Sanders Funeral Service, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church

Memorials: may be directed to the family at 323 W. Dale St., where they will receive friends.
