CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Warren G. Meewes, 88, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, February 4, 2010, at Parkview Nursing & Rehab Center, Waterloo.

He was born March 4, 1921, in Reinbeck, son of George and Mary Storjahann Meewes. He married Betty Marten on May 29, 1947, in Reinbeck.

Mr. Meewes was a 1938 graduate of Reinbeck High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was employed for 35 years at John Deere PEC, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Reinbeck American Legion, and was a member of both the Waterloo Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survived by: his wife; a daughter, Karilyn Wood of Waterloo; a son, Richard (Michele) of Anthem, Arizona; four grandchildren, David and Paul Wood, and Michael and Nicole Meewes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: four brothers, Leo, Russell, Clarence and Dale; and five sisters, Mildred Rudy, Edna Gruis, Marian Squires, Esther Lauterbach and Margaret Davis.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Heights Presbyterian Church, Cedar Falls, with inurnment in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: may be directed to the church or Care Initiatives Hospice, 310 Upland Drive Waterloo 50701.

Warren enjoyed all sports and was an avid golfer. He and Betty enjoyed their retirement years wintering in New Braunfels, Texas.
