EVANSDALE - Leah R. Steffen, 78, of Evansdale, died Thursday, Jan. 28, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo.

She was born April 5, 1931, in Newburgh, N.Y., daughter of Bert and Willa Penn Mills. She married Joseph N. Steffen on Nov. 9, 1951. He died July 29, 2004.

Mrs. Steffen graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1949 and had worked at Rath Packing Co. and Morris Printing Co.

Survived by: a daughter, Pam Droste of Waterloo; a son, Mike of Marshalltown; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Morris of Big Fork, Mont.

Preceded in death by: a son-in-law, Rich Droste.

Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo, with a 6 p.m. Scripture service.

Memorials: American Heart Association.
