WATERLOO - Donald J. Olson, 73, of Waterloo, died Monday, Jan. 25, at Rosewood Estates of natural causes.

He was born Jan. 17, 1937, in New Hampton, son of Richard and Maxine Boos Olson.

Mr. Olson graduated from Waterloo West High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1956. He retired from John Deere after 36 years of service.

Survived by: a son, Christopher of Encinitas, Calif.; two daughters, Lena (Lyle) Simmons of Waterloo and Sabrina (Don) Olson-Bury of Davis, Calif.; three grandchildren, Andrew Bauman, Elizabeth Simmons and Dylan Simmons; his mother of Waterloo; a special friend, Diane Youngblut of Jesup; and two sisters, Marian (Paul) Quandt and Shirley (Don) Duke, both of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: his father; and two sisters, Roberta and Norma Jean Olson.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138 and Waterloo Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.
