WATERLOO - Mabel I. Lonergan Lang, 97, of Waterloo, died Monday, Jan. 18, at Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes.

She was born Aug. 2, 1912, near Austin, Minn., daughter of Frank and Lillian Nelson Lonergan. She married Horace "Hod" Lang on Aug. 24, 1930, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. He died May 26, 1971.

Mabel was a homemaker and also worked in the cafeteria at West High School for 16 years.

She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles where she played in the kazoo band and volunteered in the kitchen.

Survived by: a daughter, Nancy (Gene) Terry of Waterloo; a son, Jerry (Bernie) of Denver; four granddaughters, Renae Terry of Waterloo, Brenda Alberts of Marion, Shelley (Bob) Doenhoefer of Lawton and Terri (Rich) Somsky of Kissimmee, Fla.; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Marvin (Marilyn) Lonergan of Charles City and Melbourne "Bud" Lonergan of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: three sisters, Mary Voshell, Mildred Schulz and Margaret Kindschuh; a brother, Merlyn "Gene" Lonergan; and a grandson, Craig Terry.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where there will be a 7 p.m. Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary No. 764 of Waterloo Aerie memorial service.

Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.

She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, playing 500, dancing to Big Band music and was an avid bingo player. She especially enjoyed entertaining her family at Thanksgiving.
