WATERLOO - Joseph Lee "Joe" Brown, 64, of Waterloo, formerly of La Porte City, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of cancer.

He was born May 11, 1945, in Vinton, son of Lawrence L. and Esther Swyers Brown. He married Janie Marie Spear on Aug. 23, 2003, in Waterloo.

Mr. Brown was a 1963 graduate of La Porte City High School. He was presently employed at Black Hawk Engineering.

He attended St. Ansgar Lutheran Church and was a 32-year member of AA.

Survived by: his wife; two brothers, Rex of La Porte City and John (Barbara) of Cypress, Calif.; two sons; a daughter; a stepdaughter; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two nephews; and two nieces.

Preceded in death by: his parents; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Brown of La Porte City.

Memorial Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and for an hour before services Saturday at the funeral home. The body will not be present.

Memorials: may be directed to the family.

Joe loved riding motorcycles, traveling and spending time with his wife. He was a dedicated Iowa State and Dodgers fan.
