Donald J. Rosauer, 89, of La Porte City, died Monday, February 28, 2005, at the La Porte City Nursing & Rehab Center.

He was born June 10, 1915, in Black Hawk County near Eagle Center, the son of Leonard and Elizabeth (nee Schmitz) Rosauer. He married Earlene E. Diamond on September 30, 1941, in Eagle Center. Don was a farmer in the local area for many years. He was also active in the community. He was a member of the Waterloo Knights of Columbus for over 60 years, La Porte City Lions Club for over 25 years, and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, La Porte City. Don served on the Hawkins Memorial Library board and was a former Lions Club International Melvin Jones Fellow for his dedicated humanitarian service to others.

He is survived by his wife, Earlene of La Porte City; two sons, Robert (Gail) of Fort Collins, Colorado and Mark (Rita) of Bettendorf; two daughters, Janis (Tim) Cox of Blue Springs, Missouri and Joan (Robert) Lentz of Dubuque; nine grandchildren; two step grandchildren, five great granddaughters and two step great grandchildren; and a brother, Eugene (Margaret) Rosauer of Dysart.

He was preceded in death by four sisters: Evelyn Gebel, Ardella Christopher, Margaret Eastman, and Magdalen Christopher.

Services were held March 3, 2005, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, La Porte City, with interment in St. Mary Cemetery at Eagle Center.

Memorials may be directed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Don Bosco High School in Gilbertville.
