Gerald W. "Red" Smit, 62, of La Porte City, Iowa, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 1995, at home.

Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 10, at American Lutheran Church of LPC with the Rev. Laurel Nordin, Interim Pastor and Rev. Otto J. Reitz, former pastor of American Lutheran Church officiating.

Interment was in the West View Cemetery of LPC.

Gerald was born March 20, 1932, in Spirit Lake, Iowa, the son of Henry and Grace (Cordes) Smit.
