LA PORTE CITY - Ruth E. "Susie" Jacobsen, 90, of Cedar Falls, formerly of La Porte City, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, at the Western Home, Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center, Cedar Falls, of heart failure.

She was born Sept. 25, 1919, in Gladbrook, daughter of Jacob and Christina Minders Baier. She married Ervin Jacobsen on Aug. 30, 1947, in Fort Leavenworth, Kan. He preceded her in death Feb. 6, 1997.

Survived by: a daughter, Judy (Leroy) Larson of Granbury, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Sheryl Jacobsen of Evansdale; a sister, Mary Putnam of Cedar Falls; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a son, Jerry; a granddaughter; six brothers, Lewis, Bill, Harry, Adolf, Woodrow and Elmer; and three sisters, Hilda Holder, Helen Jindrich and Arlene Baier.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with inurnment at a later date in West View Cemetery. Public visitation for an hour befores services Monday at the church. La Porte City Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
