LA PORTE CITY - April Neuman, 52, of La Porte City, died Thursday, Nov. 26, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, of cancer.

She was born Nov. 1, 1957, in Waterloo, daughter of Paul and Bessie Bachtold Henson. She married Tom Neuman and they later divorced.

Ms. Neuman worked as a Planning and Zoning Administrator for La Porte City Hall; was manager of Pronto in La Porte City for six years; and worked on La Porte City Fire and Rescue for 23 years as an EMTB and firefighter.

Survived by: two sons, Dusty and Cory (Tracie) Bengston, both of La Porte City; a daughter, Sabrina Piper of La Porte City; six grandchildren; two brothers, Butch Henson of La Porte City and Willie (Audrey) Henson of Evansdale; three sisters, June (Renee) Ward of Lawrence, Kan., Holly Anderson of Shell Rock and Iris of Nevada; and a sister-in-law, Penny Henson of La Porte City.

Preceded in death: by her parents.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Heartland Community Church, with burial in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and for an hour before services Tuesday, all at the church. La Porte City Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
