NEW HARTFORD - Vivian L. Nicholson, 98, of Friendship Village Lakeview Lodge, Waterloo, formerly of New Hartford, died Monday, Nov. 9.

She was born Aug. 20, 1911, in New Hartford, daughter of Ray and Laura Knipe Dodd. She married Denzel A. Nicholson in June 1935. He died in November 1994.

Mrs. Nicholson graduated from New Hartford High School and earned her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College. She taught kindergarten at New Hartford. She served as past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star 78 in New Hartford.

Survived by: a son, Allan “Nick” of Loveland, Ohio; a daughter, Judith Hoenk of Bettendorf; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen Hansen of Cedar Rapids and Charlotte Anton of La Porte City.

Preceded in death by: a sister, Winifred Goodsell.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at New Hartford United Methodist Church, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, New Hartford. Public visitation for an hour before services Friday at the church. Richardson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, is in charge of arrangements.
