WATERLOO - Edgar W. Homann, 87, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Nov. 5, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes.

He was born Feb. 27, 1922, in rural Bremer County, son of Henry and Clara Korte Homann.

Mr. Homann was baptized on March 19, 1922, by the Rev. Sigmond Sandrock and confirmed March 21, 1937, by the Rev. R.H. Steege at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, West Douglas Township, rural Bremer County. He married Velma Faust on Dec. 30, 1945, by the Rev. Fred Schnashorst at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Denver.

Mr. Homann and his wife farmed five years on the Faust family farm, then moved to Waterloo and he worked for Rath Packing Co. for 31 years, retiring in 1983. He worked part time at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery and Wilbert Vault Co. and for nine years at Sunnyside County Club, with the golf course.

Survived by: his wife; three sons, Loren (Janyce) of Cedar Falls, Ray (Karen) of Hudson and David (Mona) of Waterloo; a daughter, Joyce (Scott) Hancock of Centennial, Colo.; six grandchildren, Tammy Adams, Jim (Deana) Homann, Tonya (John) Richards, Brock Homann, Tricia (Gloria) Homann and Nicole Hancock; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Vernon; a sister, Margaret (Junior) Howard; and a great-granddaughter, Kendra Homann.

Services: 1 p.m. Monday at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, with burial in the cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, and for an hour before services Monday at the chapel.
