WATERLOO - Sonia D. Bruness, 63, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

She was born Nov. 9, 1945, in Texas, daughter of Jules and Eleanor Melvold Bruness. She married Richard Westphal.

Ms. Bruness graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1964 and received her registered nursing degree from Hawkeye Institute of Technology in 1983. She worked as a registered nurse in Waterloo area for 38 years and was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

Survived by: an aunt, Lorraine Tuttle of Waterloo; and many cousins ,

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the church.
