WATERLOO - Daniel J. Utsler, 65, of Waterloo, died Friday, Oct. 30, at home of cancer.

He was born Dec. 28, 1943, in Waterloo, son of Leslie "Jim" and Helen K. Otto Utsler. He married Sandra L. Moeller-Beattie on Sept. 8, 1973.

Mr. Utsler graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1962. He was employed with John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 30 years and also owned and operated Decorative Painting, Dan Utsler Painting and M & D Auto Service. After retiring in 1996, he owned and operated Beattie's Lawn Care with his wife, Sandy, up to the present.

Survived by: his wife; a son, Michael Beattie of Waterloo; two daughters, Angela (Jim) Lund and Danielle (Matt Nielsen) Stone, both of Waterloo; five grandchildren, Rage and Zane Beattie, Sophia and Donovan Stone and Samuel Lund; and two sisters, Judith Utsler and Virginia (Stan) Garrison, both of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: his parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, with entombment in Mount Olivet Mausoleum. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 p.m. rosary, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
