CEDAR FALLS - Charles S. "Chuck" Thurston, 91, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, Oct. 26, at Windsor Nursing and Rehab Center.

He was born July 14, 1918, in Garden City, Minn., son of Lisle and Rebecca Felix Thurston. He married Maxine Murdy on June 19, 1943, at Ellington Field in Houston, Texas.

Mr. Thurston was a graduate of Garden City High School and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the European theater during World War II. He was a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in Cedar Falls for 26 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of St. Timothy's United Methodist Church and Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.

Survived by: his wife; a son, Charlie (Nancy) Thurston II of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Barbara (Paul) Quast of Whitney, Texas; four grandchildren, Ryen and Dustin Guetzlaff, Charles "Chip" (Noreen) Thurston III and Jocelyn Thurston; three great-grandchildren, Alex Guetzlaff, Charlie Thurston IV and Harrison Thurston, and a sister, Evelyn Hammond of Sarasota, Fla.

Preceded in death by: his parents; a daughter, SueAnn Wick; a grandchild, Noel Wick; a brother, Lloyd; and two sisters, Violet and Nellie.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Timothy's United Methodist Church, with burial at Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
