LANGROCK, GRUBE, TOETER, CROSHAW, WINKLER

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - The Rev. Dr. Karl Frederick Langrock, 82, of Wilsonville, Oregon, and formerly of Cedar Falls, died at home October 14 from complications of congestive heart failure.

He was born on January 26, 1927, in Toeterville, Iowa, which was founded by his great-grandfather, Henry Toeter.

He spent his younger years in rural Mitchell County and graduated from Cedar Falls High School. He received advanced degrees from Northern Iowa University, the University of Iowa and Lutheran School of Theology in Maywood, Illinois.

He served Lutheran congregations in Illinois, was director of development at Berea College in Kentucky and spent 16 years as president of Grand View University in Des Moines.

Survived by: his wife of 59 years, Rose Marie; a daughter, Laura (Rick) Croshaw of Sherwood, Oregon; a son, Charles (Debra) of Des Moines; a sister, Lenore (Neal) Winkler; three nieces; two nephews; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: his parents, Lee H. and Alice D. Grube Langrock; and two sisters, Adeline and Hildegard.

Memorial Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, with burial in St. Peter's German Lutheran Cemetery, both in Toeterville.

Memorials: may be directed to Lutheran Social Services of Illinois or Grand View University.
