BOWSER Fern S. 1920-2009

WATERLOO, IOWA - Fern S. Bowser, 89, of Waterloo, died Saturday, October 24, at Country View, of natural causes.

She was born April 15, 1920, in Clearfield, Utah, daughter of Samuel Leander Sim and Mary Edna Stimpson. She married Harold Rogers in Ogden, Utah, and they later divorced. On Sept. 27, 1947, she married William Bowser Sr. in Princeton, Missouri.

She graduated from Ogden High School in 1938. Mrs. Bowser worked as a cashier for Clutes-Highland Grocery in Waterloo and retired in 1973. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was the oldest member in the Waterloo Ward.

Survived by: two daughters, Barbara (Thomas) Odam of San Ramon, Calif., and Janice Stern of Waterloo; two sons, Ronald Rogers of Sacramento, Calif., and William Jr. (Rose) Bowser of Waterloo; grandchildren, Greg (Erinn) Bowser of Mission Viejo, Calif., Sheri (Kevin) Glass of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., Keith Bowser of Irvine, Calif., Christy (David) Boyes of Brentwood, Calif., Shaun (Nicole) Stern and Daniel Stern, both of Waterloo, Michael Bowser of Des Moines, Jennifer Bowser of Waterloo and Christopher Stern of Las Vegas; and four great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, William J. Bowser Sr.; a stepson, Gary W. Bowser; a grandson, Joshua; and a sister, Mary Ellen Morris.

Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 6 ot 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
