WATERLOO - Marlous "Marly" Smith, 85, of Rosewood Estate, died Monday, Oct. 19, at Covenant Medical Center, of natural causes.

She was born Nov. 6, 1923, in Waterloo, daughter of Thornwald and Laura Kramer Peterson. She married William D. Smith on Aug. 13, 1942, in Lancaster, Mo. He died April 18, 2003.

Mrs. Smith was a 1942 graduate of Waterloo West High School.

Survived by: a daughter, Patricia (Bill) Ludwig of Waterloo; a son, Bill (Deb) of Beaver Dam, Wis.; four grandchildren, B.C. Ludwig, Joe (Michelle) Ludwig, Adrienne Smith and Alex Smith; and five great-grandchildren, Trey and Tanner Ludwig and Tristin, Jesse and Devin Ludwig.

Preceded in death by: two sisters, Evalyn Carson and Waunita Smith; and a brother, Kenneth Peterson.

Services: 1 p.m. Thursday at Locke Funeral Home, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Public visitation for an hour before services Thursday at the funeral home.
