WATERLOO - Esther Barbara Courter Webbeking, 92, of Grinnell, formerly of Waterloo, died Sunday, Oct. 11, at St. Francis Manor, Grinnell, of natural causes.

She was born Sept. 10, 1917, in Raymond, daughter of Chris and Lena Schuler Welter. She married Ray L. Courter on May 12, 1938, in Raymond. He died Aug. 24, 1977. She married Otto Webbeking on June 16, 1979, in Waterloo. He died June 16, 1998.

Mrs. Webbeking was employed as a manager with Sears in the children's department for 20 years, retiring in 1981.

Survived by: a daughter, Joan (Jim) Cunningham of Grinnell; three grandchildren, Don (Sarah) Cunningham of Fort Collins, Colo., Dr. David (Francesca) Cunningham of Grinnell and Diane (Greg) Johnson of Pinckney, Mich.; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Rita) Welter of Waterloo; and a sister, Jenny (Russ) Deberg of Kansas City.

Preceded in death by: her parents; two brothers, John and Melvin "Bud" Welter; and four sisters, Agnes Kayser, Pauline Peverill, Gertrude Williams and Evelyn McFarlane.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 5 p.m. rosary and 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services Thursday at the church.
