STESSMAN, WILLIS, THORMA, LENTZ

WATERLOO - Kenneth Albert Stessman, 54, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Oct. 4, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

He was born Sept. 6, 1955, in Audubon, son of Albert Henry and Carol Lea Willis Stessman. He married Theresa Thoma on Nov. 12, 1977, in Gilbertville, and they later divorced.

Mr. Stessman graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1973 and attended the police science program at Hawkeye Institute of Technology. He was a Black Hawk County Reserve Deputy for a number of years. He was self-employed with car sales, repair and trim and also free-lance investigations and recovery. He had a lifelong interest in law enforcement, automobiles and boating.

Survived by: two sons, Luke and Carl, both of Waterloo; as daughter, Leann of Clive; his father Albert (Evalyn) Stessman of Waterloo; a brother, Richard (Karla) of West Des Moines; a sister, Janet (Michael) Lentz of Holly Springs, N.C.; nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: his mother; and a sister, Kathleen Postal.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
