WATERLOO - Frances F. Gruver, 87, of Waterloo, died Saturday, May 8, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

She was born May 5, 1923, in Waterloo, daughter of Chris and Mary Ahrens Smith. She married Val C. Gruver on Aug. 22, 1941, in Waterloo. He died Dec. 21, 1980.

Mrs. Gruver graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1941 and had worked for Foster's and Rath Packing Co.

Survived by: a daughter-in-law, Diana Gruver of Waterloo; and a grandson, Mark Gruver of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: a son, Roger; and a sister, Maxine Schroeder.

Services: 1 p.m. Thursday at Locke Funeral Home, with burial in Waterloo Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
