WATERLOO - Alberta "Birdie" Stafford, 80, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, at Covenant Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 17, 1928, in Monmouth, daughter of Albert and Elizabeth Braun Sinkey. She married Cloyce Stafford on May 20, 1950, in Waverly.

Mrs. Stafford graduated from Waverly High School in 1946 and was a homemaker and mother. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and of the Eastern Star.

Survived by: her husband; five sons, Larry of Diamond Spring, Calif., Mike (Colleen) of Cedar Falls, Tom (Ada) of Des Moines, Jeff (Kathy) of Lenoir, N.C., and Joe (Teresa) of Dunkerton; 11 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and a brother, Ross (Audrey) Sinkey of Albuquerque, N.M.

Preceded in death by: a sister, Edith Dierks; and a brother, Tim Sinkey.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Waterloo, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Dunkerton. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.
