WATERLOO - Janet D. Medhaug, 78, of Waterloo, died Friday, Sept. 25, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born June 30, 1931, in Clarksville, daughter of David and Jenny Hovenga Wildeboer. She married H. Gene Medhaug on April 1, 1950, in Harmony, Minn.

Mrs. Medhaug and her husband owned and operated Elk Run Grocery for 29 years, retiring in 2000.

Survived by: her husband; a son, Joseph (Amy) of Evansdale; three daughters, Vicki (William) Zimmer of Wittmann, Ariz., Judy (Roger) Turner of Elk Run Heights and Susan (Kris) Hansen of Cedar Falls; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a daughter, Teresa; a son, Martin; three brothers, Francis, David and Phillip Wildeboer; and four sisters, Verbena Luck, Elizabeth Smith, Florence Luck and Delores Stearns.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and for an hour before services on Thursday at the funeral home.
