Mrs. Abe Ayers Dies on Tuesday
Had Lived in this Vicinity Since Her Birth in 1869

Mrs. Abe E. Ayers, 76, died at her home in the south part of town at 11:45 Tuesday night, from a heart attack following several strokes, from which she has been an invalid for several months.

As Nettie Ann Abel, the daughter of Nathan and Lydia Abel, she was born near Mt. Auburn on April 1st, 1869. She was married to Pery Olds and to this union one son was born. Both preceded her in death.

On November 5th, 1896, she was married to Abe E. Ayers and has lived in this vicinity all her life with the exception of four years, she lived in Nebraska during her first marriage.

Mrs. Ayers was a member of the Presbyterian church, the Women's Relief Corps, Good ? Club and the Lotus Club . . . was active in all these organizations as long as her health permitted. She was a good neighbor and friend and was loved by all who knew her. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, Abe E. Ayers, a foster son, J. E. Thom-? Who has lived with them for 42 years, two brothers, Arthur Abel, Anamosa, Iowa, and ? Abel. La Porte City, one sister, Mrs. Ona May Griner of ?mpton, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Presbyterian church with Rev. Thomas A Stone officiating and burial in the Mt. Auburn cemetery. The body is at Ashely and Waldroff funeral home. ~ Progress Review, LaPorte City, Iowa, April 26, 1945.
