Edward R. Strayer. Funeral services for Edward R. Strayer, 46, La Porte road, who died Friday in Veterans’ hospital, Des Moines, will be conducted at 2 p. m. Monday in First Brethren church by Rev. W. H. Yoder, pastor of South Waterloo Church of the Brethren. Burial will be in Orange township cemetery.
There will be a military service at the grave by King-Marson chapter, Disable American Veterans, and Eugene Clark post, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Casket bearers also will be from the D. A. V. and V. F. W. units.
The body will be taken to the church at 1 p. m. from the Ray Hurley funeral home.
Mr. Strayer was born April 12, 1896, at Johnstown, Pa., the son of Solomon and Mary Strayer. He came to iowa in March, 1903, and married Mrs. Ethel Peck Oct. 14, 1923.
He was in the army for 18 months in world war I, from the fall of 1917 until June, 1919, and was overseas for 13 months.
Surviving are the widow; three brothers, Charles, Medford, Ore.; Chalmer B., Jesup, Ia., and R. Earl, route 2, Waterloo; two stepsons, Morris E. Peck, Fort Dodge, Ia., and Harold K. Peck, Vancouver, Wash., and a half-brother, Logan C. Strayer, Regina, Sask., Can.
The parents, a brother, sister, and several half-brothers and half-sisters are dead.
Mr. Strayer was a member of First Brethren church, Disabled American Veterans and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
