DIED.
CARPENDER.--In this city on the 20th inst., of typhoid-pneumonia, William Pitt Carpender, aged 27 years 3 months and 11 days.

Mr. Carpender was well known in this city, having been engaged in the drug business for several years, first as a clerk at W.W. Forry's, and afterwards the senior partner in the firm of Carpender & Smith. HIs father, Dr. S.B. Carpender, is one of our old citizens, and Mrs. J.L. Husted and Mrs. Cyrus Corson are sisters of the deceased. Mr. Carpender's sickness was a short one, lasting only a week, and many had barely heard of his illness before they were startled with the announcement of his death. His remains were taken to Epworth Saturday afternoon, for burial in the family lot there on Sunday. Funeral services were held at his late residence here before the departure, Rev. Dushiel, of the Presbyterian church officiating.

The deceased leaves a wife and little daughter about a year old, who have the kind sympathy of all in their terrible bereavement.
