John Teeple, an old former and respected citizen of Jackson county died at Waterloo, Iowa, March 15, 1900. Mr. Teeple came to Jackson county at an early day, some time before 1840, settling at or near Nashville. Was married in 1846 to Nancy Johnson. To them were born fourteen children, of whom only four survive. He resided at Nashville until 1868 when he moved to Monmouth, Iowa, living there and its vicinity until about 1887, when he moved to Marion, Iowa. About 1894 he moved to Waterloo, Iowa, where he had been living with his daughter, Mrs. John J. Rock, until his death. He leaves a wife and daughter, Mrs. Jon. J. Rock, of Waterloo, Iowa, three sons, Sherman of near Lost Nation, Sheridan of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and John F. Teeple of Colorado. With the exception of one brother, William, in Canada, all his brothers have passed away. Of the brothers who came to Iowa Perrigan died in California at an early date, Descomb in the early seventies, Luther in 1896, Richard and Calvin in 1899 and now John in 1900. He and his brothers will be well and kindly remembered by all of the early settlers of Jackson county still surviving. Mr. Teeple was buried at Waterloo Saturday, March 17.
