HAVEN, SCOTT, HULL, GUTKNECHT, KEMP

Mrs. Sarah E. Haven, 81, a former La Porte City resident, who, for the past two years has made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Opal Scott, 914 Jefferson St., suffered a hip fracture on September 12, 1941, died on Wednesday, September 24, 1941.

Mrs. Haven, an invalid who had suffered a hip fracture previously, was injured in a fall in her room at the Scott home.

She was born on February 24, 1860, at Farley, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.G. Hull. She taught school for two years at Farley before marrying Emmett E. Haven on November 30, 1881. They came to La Porte City in 1900, and Mr. Haven died here in October 1934.

Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon, with burial in West View Cemetery. The body is in Barnhart and Johannsen Funeral Home.

Survivors, besides Mrs. Scott, include four sons: M. L., Glen and Percy Haven of La Porte City, and Carlton, of Pittsfield, Illinois; and another daughter, Mrs. Carrie Gutknecht, Hudson, Iowa; a brother, W. B. Hull, Durand, Wisconsin; and a sister Mrs. Amelia Kemp, Iowa City, Iowa; and eight grandchildren.
