James F. Nielsen, 69, a retired section foreman with the Illinois Central (rail)road, died at 12:55 p.m. Monday at Oakdale sanatorium, Oakdale, Ia.

He was born Aug. 30, 1881, at Myrtle, Minn., the son of Peter C. and Mary Nielsen.

He worked for the railroad 40 years, retiring in 1941 due to ill health.

He was a member of the United Brethren church at Glenville, Minn,. and the Ben Hur lodge in Waterloo.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Blanche Burns, Bremerton, Wash.; Mrs. Lillian Long, 127 Madison street; two sisters, Mrs. Edith Wardall, 300 Linden street, and Mrs. Pearl Tiller, 620 West Park avenue; two brothers, Ernest Nielsen, 321 State street, and Herbert, London, O., and two grandchildren.

His parents and three brothers preceded him in death. He was married in Albert Lea, Minn. in 1902 to Laura Nelson, but they later were divorced.

The body is at O'Keefe & Towne funeral home pending arrangements.
