Obituary

LAPORTE CITY - Ruth I. Hummel, 77, of 9045 Brandon Road, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, Iowa of natural causes.

She was born Aug. 1, 1920, in Reinbeck, IA, daughter of Fred and Clara Christiansen Ainley. She married Guy Hummel on Sept. 12, 1958, in Waterloo.

Mrs. Hummel was employed in the office at John Deere Product Engineering Center, Waterloo, for 28 years, retiring in 1972. She also was a graduate of Gates Business college; Waterloo.

Survived by: her husband, two [step] daughters, Marlene Fairbanks of Rogers, Ark., and Patricia Albright of Cedar Falls; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and a brother, David Ainley of Waterloo.

Services: 1 PM. Wednesday, [Jan. 14, 1998] at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, with burial in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City.
