Obituary

Russell C. Hummel, 87, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 1992, at Country View of natural causes.

He was born June 23, 1905 at La Porte City, a son of Charles P. and Bertha L. McCall Hummel. He married Vivian Blackstone in 1932 in Cedar Rapids. They were divorced in 1935. He then married Helen McCombs in Waterloo on June 23, 1935 in Waterloo and they divorced in 1949.

He was owner and operator of R. C. Hummel Radio Repair in Waterloo. He was also a professional musician, playing with dance bands throughout the Midwest.

Survivors include a daughter, Lana Jean Hite, Atlanta, GA; two brothers Guy M. Hummel of LaPorte City and Lloyd D. Hummel, Waterloo; and a sister Betty Corson, Fairfield Bay, Ark; and two granddaughters; he was proceeded in death by a brother, Daryl G. Hummel.

Services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 12 at Huisman Funeral Home, with burial in West View Cemetery, both of La Porte City.
