Mrs. Oscar Harvey Dies

Resident Here Half a Century Dies September 12

Mrs. Oscar Harvey, resident of La Porte City for almost half a century, died Thursday evening in her home from a severe stroke which she suffered last Friday night, ten years after her first stroke.

She was born Ella Frances Bubb, daughter of William and Ellen Bubb, at Montoursville, Pa., on December 9, 1866. She was married to Mr. Harvey on December 16, 1888, at South Williamsport, Pa. They came here immediately afterwards and lived here all their married life except for four years spent in Waterloo.

Mrs. Harvey was the last of six children to die and was the sister of the late Mrs. M. E. Hummel. She was past president of the Legion auxiliary and very active in the Methodist church until her health force her to drop form both.

She is survived by her husband and two children, U. A. Harvey who is at home, and Mrs. R. L. Haire of Cedar Falls, and one grandchild, Charles in the navy. Another grandchild, Ralph, preceded her in death in 1935.

Funeral services were Saturday afternoon at two o’clock in the Harvey home with Rev. G. D. Gaide officiating. Burial was at Westview cemetery.
Pallbearers were six legion men: Ralph Runyan, Clarence Wilson, Bill St. Clair, Glenn Teeter, Chas. Kocher and Harold Johnson.
