Earl Harvey Died Friday

Had Lived in La Porte City
All His Life
Funeral Held Sunday

Earl Harvey one of the oldest residents of the city, and having a great acquaintances in this vicinity, passed away last Friday at one of the hospitals at Waterloo where had been taken for care during his last sickness. He had been poor health for some months, but was able to get about until four weeks ago. It was not generally known that he was seriously ill and his death came as a surprise to his friends and relatives.

The deceased was born in this city May 12, 1859 and was the oldest [second] son of the late Solomon Harvey, one of the respected residents of this county. He had lived here all his life. For a long number of years he was employed as a stock and grain buyer at the stock years and elevator of this city.

He enjoyed a wide acquaintance and was respected by all who knew him. Mr. Harvey had a wonderful memory and could relate many of the happenings of the early days of this town with more than ordinary accuracy.

The year 1885 he was married to Miss Carrie Crowell who preceded him death. He is survived by a son, Forest Harvey of this city and a daughter Mrs. Ruth Demory, who resides at Vancouver, British Columbia. Surviving are also three brothers: Oscar of this city, and John, and Will who reside in the west.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Waldoff funeral home in this city were attended by many of the acquaintances of the deceased, and were conducted by Rev. C.D. James, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church. Music was rendered by Miss Carol Ashley and Don Ashley, with Mrs. Neva Machine at the piano. The pall bearers were A. E. Powell, P. M. Igou, T. T. Turner, W. W. Milan, Benjamin Oaks and John Lynn. Burial was made in the family lot in West View cemetery.
