CEDAR FALLS, IOWA — William C. “Bill” Waddle, 67, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died at home Wednesday, December 28, 2005, of lung cancer.

He was born June 10, 1938, in Des Moines, the son of Paul Alexander and Dorothy Pearl Sanburn Waddle.

He married Linda Lou Van Dorn in September 1959 in Cedar Rapids, and they later divorced. He then married Shirley M. Shelton on December 15, 1984, in Cedar Falls. Mr. Waddle had served as a firefighter for Webster City Fire Department while attending Iowa Central College. He then was a lieutenant with the Cedar Falls Police Department from 1960 to 1980. For several years he owned and operated the Viking Lounge in Cedar Falls, then was a private trucking owner who leased primarily to Warren Transport. His final job was an over-the-road truck driver for Omega-Panther Co., Waterloo, retiring in October 2005.

Survivors include: his wife; a son, Steven C. (Brenda) Waddle of Cedar Falls; a granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth Waddle of Cedar Falls; and a sister, Judy A. Waddle of Prairie City.

Preceded in death by: his parents; and a sister, Pamela Waddle Butters.

Memorial services: 1 p.m. Friday at Richardson Funeral Home, with scattering of cremains at a later date. There will be no visitation.

Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or Black Hawk Unit of American Cancer Society.
